With the vision of serving the space as a hub for the community of Altadena, CA, we created this warm and welcoming environment for Big Dipper Cafe. To make the space feel intimate and welcoming, we use a great amount of wood in different forms to define spaces and show unity, such as the chevron wood background for the neon logo wall, wood-slatted counter, and the face frame wall that gives the cereal wall a rhythm.

The new layout of the store has entrances from both the street side and the plaza side. We created a three-sided service counter floating in the middle of the store to serve customers from all directions and a three-layered bulkhead dropped down from the 14′ tall ceiling to emphasize the space and attract attention from outside of our beautiful floor to ceiling windows.
